Are you an artist with a passion for making a positive impact in your community? Look no further! Causability, a cause-based grant-making organization, is offering exciting opportunities for artists to collaborate with local nonprofits and bring creative projects to life. Here’s everything you need to know about Causability Grants:

Why Causability Grants?

At Causability, we recognize the importance of valuing artists’ contributions and avoiding the ‘starving artist’ stereotype. We believe that meaningful collaborations between creatives and nonprofits can lead to impactful, sustained change within communities. To encourage this, we’re offering three grants, each worth $5,000, empowering artists to collaboratively develop events, programs, or fundraisers with local nonprofits.

Who Can Apply?

Causability Grants are open to both creatives who are not currently working with nonprofits and new programs with those that have current relationships. These grants specifically support the development of new programs through collaboration with nonprofits. If you’re passionate about making a difference and have a unique project in mind, this opportunity is for you.

What Can You Create?

The grants are versatile, allowing recipients to explore various mediums and disciplines. The emphasis is on developing events or programs that assist underserved and socio-economically marginalized areas. Your collaboration with a nonprofit should fall into one or more of the following categories:

  1. Special Events, Workshops, or Performances:
    • Create events that unite and foster interactivity within the community.
    • Explore visual arts, dance, theater, and music to engage the audience.
    • Ensure mutual benefit to the nonprofit and the community.
  2. Fundraising Programs:
    • Design programs that foster community involvement while uplifting and providing resources within the community.
    • Use your artistic talents to create a vehicle for fundraising.

Where Does the Funding Come From?

The grants, each valued at $5,000, are made possible through private donors, individual supporters, and revenue percentages from our partner site, Art For Your Cause. Causability, founded in 2021, is committed to bringing about real-world impact by supporting creatives, donors, and nonprofits in collaborative ventures.

Causability’s Mission

Causability is not just about funding opportunities; it’s about encouraging creatives to collaborate on cause-based art programs within their communities. Liz London, the founder, understands the challenges faced by both creatives and donors. Causability seeks to address these challenges, making it easier for sincere changemakers to contribute meaningfully to causes they care about.

How Can You Utilize the Grant?

Once awarded the grant, artists have the flexibility to cover various expenses associated with their projects. These may include:

  • Renting an event space
  • Purchasing supplies
  • Paying yourself
  • Advertising and recruiting volunteers

The key is that all costs must be directly associated with the agreed-upon event or artwork.
